End of an Era

It’s a strange sensation to possess. As much as I do have an idea for a fourth of the Underworlds stories, if I ever choose to go back to it, I’m editing the third, and when this is done, I completed the main plot I wanted to tell. These are the ones I wanted to be done before my ex succeeded in her threat to kill me off. Only now, I doubt it’ll ever happen, her being more words than actions, I realize this now. So, what’s left. I am writing something else that’s more heavily focused on Science Fiction rather than Fantasy, yet I didn’t conclude my ideas fully on it. How I adored the characters and world(s) of the Underworlds, but with so many stories within me, the time has come to tell a different one of them…

Talking of what’s next brings me to my next story, one I’ve gotten several good ideas about, but where I knew 70% of the first novel, then dropped about 20 for each one, I remain low for my next, which may not be another 20% of a drop, but still less. I do know the basic set up. A focus on Science Fiction, rather than fantasy, I feel it may be right for me.

Will the third be the last in the Underworlds series then?

Not per se, as I know what a fourth would be about, the third has everything set up to it. The Whole Shebang is all set for the fourth. It holds something I wanted in the third at first, but it would have made it too long since it was already long. In a fourth, it fitted better in itself than just an addon to the central part of the plot, the only question is when. As a writer, who once never could get it written, it’s vital to write stories that you yearn for. This was clear with the first three. I would like to make a fourth, but I crave to write something differently first, and who knows, in time there may be more who would want the sequel then…

Then what is this project you want to do next about?

Just like with The Underworlds novels, it is one I had on my mind, not for an as long time but still long. It’s about aliens, more specific Martians in hiding on Earth. I have a few ideas, but how it will play out when the bad ones find them, I’m not sure about that yet. What I do know, like with the first book, there was theme of bringing his son home to safety and an introduction to those worlds, the second one, about the back story of the father, how he evolved into who he is, and last but not least, the third being themed on revenge and lost souls, this new one will be about environment and how you can’t run from karma…
